IT Backup: MS SQL Procedures

Rotronic know best their system and as of such knows the risks of the system. Rotronic have carried out the risk assessment (RMS-RA-Vxxx) of the entire system and has provided SOP guidelines that require adaptation based upon the user’s setup.

To ensure data access and data integrity, the two following points are key:

1)System and Server

2)Database

The end user needs to make sure that the RMS server is suitably backed up and configured for high availability. Additionally, a disaster recovery plan needs to be put into place.

The RMS software and the MS SQL database operate on standard Microsoft Server platforms and therefore are compatible with many solutions and approaches for backup, high availability and disaster recovery.

Rotronic is not an IT provider and application provider such as Rotronic can in no way advise or recommend on the solutions put forward within the SOP’s. For on-premise solutions, Rotronic recommend talking to a local IT supplier or trusted suppliers to find a solution that fits with the existing hardware and infrastructure.

Whereas Rotronic cannot advice/recommend/confirm any solutions, Microsoft list the following options:

1)MS SQL database back up: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/backup-restore/create-a-full-database-backup-sql-server?view=sql-server-ver16

a.Full back up to disk to default location: please see chapter A of the link above.

b.Full back up to disk to non-default location: please see chapter B of the link above.

2)MS SQL database restore: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/backup-restore/restore-a-database-backup-using-ssms?view=sql-server-ver16

a.Restore a full database backup: please see chapter A of the link above.
