Checklist RMS Software Update

When carrying out an RMS software update, it is key to plan the update. Rotronic AG recommend carrying out the software update on the test environment before updating the validation and production environments.

The software update process can last for a few hours, the software should only be unavailable for a few minutes.

Checklist:

1.Are the SQL server and the application server separate? Or all on the same server? Rotronic AG will require access to both servers when carrying out a software update (with Admin rights).

2.Do the servers have Internet access? The software package needs to be on the server in order to install it.

3.Is Windows Authentication used on SQL Server? If so, is the service user known?

4.Is port 8091 already configured? This is important for the update from version 1.x to the version 2.x.

5.Is HTTPS used? If so, is the certificate still up to date?

6.Is LDAP used? If yes, which port? (User not allowed to access).

7.Are IT specialists available at all times? Rotronic AG require a server specialist, a network specialist and an SQL specialist.

8.The server must be able to be restarted. Do special measures have to be taken here, such as informing users or creating a ticket?

9.Which remote maintenance tool does the customer use? TeamViewer? teams? Another, which one?

10. Are users present for testing?

11. When updating the software, a new license key is required! Each license key is linked to a software version. Is a new key already available?
