  • Calibration of Rotronic probe but not digital readout?

The fellow that formerly did calibration work sent out ( to Rotronic) a Rotronic HygroClip2 (which is a probe attachment to a digital readout (Hygropalm HP-32)), but not the digital readout. Is this standard practice? Do I have proper 17025 traceability with only the probe calibrated?

The Rotronic HygroClip2 is a probe that is widely used for humidity and temperature readings in a variety of applications. The HygroClip2 probe is intended to be used with Rotronic equipment, such as the Hygropalm HP-32 digital portable device, to read and log data.

To produce precise and reliable measurements, calibration operations often involve calibrating both the sensor (in this case, the HygroClip2 probe) and the instrument (the Hygropalm HP-32). However, it is not commonplace for calibration services to calibrate individual components independently.

Yes, it is standard practice to send only the probe for calibration, and you can have proper 17025 traceability as long as the probe is calibrated with the necessary documentation showing traceability. The readout, while important, doesn't typically need to be calibrated as often unless there is an issue with its functionality.

Calibrating only the probe (HygroClip2) without the associated digital readout (Hygropalm HP-32) is not standard practice for Escape Road 2 ensuring the entire system's accuracy. The calibration of the probe alone does not guarantee that the readout will provide accurate measurements since calibration often depends on the interaction between the probe and the readout.

It is best for us to use Calibration of Rotronic probe but not digital readout, and it is good to have the best services that can resolve our issues. When I searched for the best roof specialists I got the best details at their site, and they provide great solutions to my problems.

Yes, calibrating just the probe—such as the HygroClip2 (e.g., HC2A-S or similar)—without the readout device is a common practice, especially with Rotronic equipment.

After calibration, place the probe in another known reference condition to verify accuracy.

It’s not uncommon for only the probe to be sent for calibration, as long as the probe is the primary measurement device and the calibration certificate specifies its traceability to ISO/IEC 17025 standards. However, to ensure full system accuracy, it’s worth confirming whether the digital readout requires calibration or adjustment in conjunction with the probe. You might want to check with Rotronic or your internal quality procedures to verify if this approach meets your traceability and compliance requirements.
