Whilst PoE issues with RMS devices are rare, technical problems can arise. Please note Rotronic test all devices with multiple PoE switches, not all switches and configurations can be tested. A switch that supports PoE: 802.3af-2003 can still be configured incorrectly for RMS devices.

 

Recommendations:

Manually limit or configure power available to each port for Class 1 devices (see table above).

Ensure total power allocation does not exceed switch maximum power budget.

Disable low power or economical modes.

Utilize second or higher capacity power supply to increase total power budget on switch (if available).

 

Important:

Incorrect power management can result in PoE switch budget being exceeded and affecting power supplies to devices. As of such RMS devices will go offline and can only be restarted if the power supply and the batteries are removed.

 

RMS Ethernet module details:

Wiring mode: Mode B.

Duplex mode: Full and half duplex.

Tbase speed: 10/100 Base-T.
