1. Can I use an ATEX probe with a non-ATEX Transmitter?

No, the Rotronic ATEX probe HC2-EX (all versions) must only be used in combination with the ATEX-certified HF5-EX transmitter.

This is because the ATEX certification covers the complete system—the probe and the transmitter together. The HC2-EX probe is intrinsically safe (Ex i) only when used with the HF5-EX transmitter.

If the HC2-EX probe is connected to a non-ATEX transmitter, such as a standard HF5, the ATEX certification is no longer valid. This creates a serious explosion hazard, as in the event of a failure, it cannot be guaranteed that the probe remains within safe temperature and power limits.

For safety and compliance, always ensure that the HC2-EX probe is operated exclusively with the HF5-EX transmitter.
