Device description

General

The gateway is the interface between the wireless data logger and the web software. The gateway can manage up to 60 data loggers simultaneously, collecting all wireless data logger and passing them on to the server software. When several gateways are used in the same network, they are configured redundantly. If one gateway should fail, the data are automatically sent to the server software via another gateway.

The gateway provides the following basic functions:

oCollection of all measured data from the wireless data loggers

oTransfer of the recorded data to the RMS software

oFirmware update

Version:

o868 MHz for Europe

o915 MHz for North America

Please follow the wireless recommendations: Wireless Technology.

Power Variants

Power Supply: 24 VDC ± 10 % / 100 mA

PoE: 802.3af-2003, Class 1

Indicator and Button

The device has a button and multicolored LED for use and indication of the operating state. The button is used to start the device or switch it off in battery mode. The LED indicates the device status and whether it was possible in the current measurement interval to carry out a valid measurement and send the data to the monitoring system.

Important:

If the RMS wireless device is offline for a longer period of time, then this may cause for the wireless module to be sent into failure mode. This happens when a very low power supply is supplied to the device. Once the wireless module is in failure mode, it cannot be resuscitated. Once the wireless module has failed, the device's LED will blink differently to any way that is described in the manual.

Recommendation: Please remove the batteries if the user anticipates keeping a wireless device disconnected for a longer period of time.

Push-button

The device is controlled and configured via a server application. When a device is integrated into a system, the user must confirm he is the owner of the respective device by pressing on a key.

Whether a device is integrated in the system is primarily stored on the server. However, the device retains this information each time it communicates with the server and maintains the state in the event of a reboot or loss of connection. To remove the device from the system, it must be deleted from the server.

Pairing

Short time

Confirm pairing when connecting the device to the Rotronic Monitoring System. The LED flashes orange before the pairing can be confirmed. If the pairing is not confirmed, the device returns to offline mode after a certain time (determined by the RMS-WEB software).

Online

Long time (app. 4 to 5 sec.)

Discard the local pairing information. Note that pairing is always set by the server. If there is a connection to the server, the pairing is immediately taken over again.

In all operation status not listed (in the table above), the push-button has no function.

RTCC (Real Time Clock Calendar)

The device has a real time clock calendar. The time is synchronized continuously when connected to the server.

Interval

The interval for data transfer is exactly the same as that of the connected data loggers. At every interval the gateway receives the latest measured values from the data loggers and sends them to the server software.
