Question:
I keep on getting the following software exception within the audit trail "System.Data.Entity.Infrastructure.DbUpdateException", followed by devices going offline. What does the exception mean?

Possible Root Cause:
  1. When the "System.Data.Entity.Infrastructure.DbUpdateException" occurs within the audit trail it means that the communication with the MS SQL database is not available.
  2. It can mean that the communication with the MS SQL database is not available due to connection issues (RMS software and MS SQL database on two different servers).
  3. It can mean that the communication with the MS SQL database is not available due to MS SQL database issues.
Solution:
  1. Speak to the IT team and request for them for a system update and ensure that the MS SQL database is running correctly.
Additional Information:
In the software V1.3.1: When the MS SQL database is offline, then the devices will also be offline.
In the software V2.1.0 the RMS-2693 was implemented to reduce the amount of errors received. When the MS SQL database is offline, the devices won't go offline.
