Can you supply information about the capability of update and/or downgrade the FW of the RMS devices? How or where could I do this? Which tools do I need? And are there any limitations regarding FW and HW versions?

All wireless and LAN devices can be updated within the RMS-WEB software
RMS-Probes and LAN devices can be updated with the RMS-Config software
An overview of compatibility and matching versions of hardware, firmware and software can be found in the online manual

In general an firmware update for a device does not affect the compability to the running RMS software version.
Note: Beware regarding HW version. Not every HW can be updated with the newest FW. Today only the gateway is related to this issue.
